Champagne Crystal Glass and Satin Brass Cabinet Knobs with Backplates

Champagne glass — the colour of a dry sparkling wine held up to the light — and solid brass in a soft satin finish. Every knob fits every backplate, so you can put any knob on any plate and change the whole look of a door front.

Each piece is priced and sold on its own. Choose one piece at a time — the photo changes to show exactly what you have picked, with its drawing and measurements — and add as many as you need.

How the pieces fit together

• Every backplate has a 4 mm centre hole and is 2 mm thick.
• The knob's fixing screw passes through the door and the plate and into the knob. The plate simply sits between the knob and the door.
• With a plate fitted, the knob stands 2 mm further off the door than the heights below.
• A backplate is also the neatest way to cover old screw holes or marks left by previous handles.

Champagne crystal knobs — £8.99 each

Cut and polished glass on a brass-coloured base. Each comes with one M4 fixing screw, 28 mm long — please check this suits your door thickness. The height given is how far the knob stands off the door.

• Oval 45mm — smooth domed oval. Head 45 × 29 mm. Stands 45 mm off the door.
• Fluted Oval — scalloped edge that catches the most light. Head 45 × 29 mm. Stands 36.5 mm off the door.
• Round 36mm — the quiet one. Head 36 mm across. Stands 34 mm off the door.
• Octagon 34mm — eight cut facets, the classic Victorian glass shape. Head 34 mm across. Stands 35 mm off the door.
• Square 25mm — the smallest, good on narrow drawers. Head 25.5 × 25.5 mm. Stands 35 mm off the door.

The colour runs through the glass rather than sitting on the surface, so it deepens where the glass is thickest and lifts almost to clear at the edges. Small differences in the way light catches a facet are what glass does, not a flaw.

Solid brass knobs — satin finish

Each comes with its fixing screw.

• Mushroom 32mm — £16.99. 32 mm dome, stands 32 mm off the door, 13 mm base.
• Oval 32mm — £16.99. 32 mm oval, stands 27 mm off the door, 13 mm base.
• Oval 38mm — £19.99. 38 mm oval, stands 40 mm off the door, 15 mm base.

Backplates — solid brass, satin finish

Eleven shapes. 2 mm thick, 4 mm centre hole. All £9.99 except the Squircle at £12.99. Each option has its own drawing in the photos. Sizes are measured on the piece — allow up to 1 mm either way.

Care

Wipe the glass with a soft damp cloth and dry it straight away. On the brass, avoid ammonia-based sprays and anything abrasive. Do not use metal polish on a satin finish — it will burnish the brushed grain to a shine in patches.
