Silver Applique II Elegant Lace Ceramic Cabinet Knob

A ceramic dome laid over with fine silver appliqué — filigree in the manner of antique French and Belgian lacework, transferred by hand to a small kiln-fired body.
Each knob is thrown and fired by hand in a small ceramics workshop, then finished with an appliquéd silver overlay applied in a low-temperature second firing — the technique borrowed from historic ceramic decoration in southern Europe, where lace-like metallic patterns were laid onto porcelain for aristocratic tableware. The result is a piece with real ornament, and no two are ever identical.
The body is high-fired stoneware with a smooth white glaze, and the silver overlay is applied and burnished by hand before being sealed. The mounting stem is a solid brass insert threaded for a standard M4 screw (25mm supplied). The silver detailing catches light softly rather than sharply, and will retain its brightness with occasional gentle polishing.
Works well in: Shabby-chic bedrooms with painted dressers, French provincial dining rooms with cane-back chairs, dressing tables in guest suites, and Victorian-inspired bathrooms with pedestal basins. Beautiful too on a small painted armoire in an entry hall, where the silverwork picks up light from a nearby mirror.
Sizing: Approximately 35mm diameter (1.38") with a 30mm projection (1.18"). Comfortable in the hand — a small ornament sized to be used, not just admired.
