An ornament in the truest sense — cast in solid brass, engraved in the manner of Louis XIV's furniture makers, and finished with the kind of aged gleam that only shows itself in warm light.
Each knob is sand-cast in a small brass foundry, then hand-chased — the ornamental scrollwork sharpened by a bench engraver working the surface with hand tools, deepening the shadows so the rocaille motif reads clearly even after finishing. The final polish is done by hand on a cloth wheel, then patinated to soften the shine into something that reads antique rather than new.
The body is solid brass throughout — no plating, no coating — so the piece will age gracefully and take on a deeper tone with use. The mounting stem is threaded for a standard M4 screw (25mm supplied), and the shoulder sits flush against cabinet fronts of most thicknesses. Because brass is a living material, expect small variations from piece to piece — the mark of a hand-finished object rather than a stamped one.
Works well in: Rococo-adjacent dressing rooms, panelled libraries, and the sort of Parisian-apartment kitchens where the cabinetry is painted a soft dove and the countertop is Calacatta marble. It also does surprisingly well as a foil to modern flat-front cabinets — the ornament reads as considered contrast rather than pastiche.
Sizing: Approximately 35mm diameter (1.38") with a 32mm projection (1.26"). Substantial in the hand — a piece meant to be noticed.
