Designed in England.

Hand-forged the old way, with the rounded penny end that has marked good country joinery for centuries.

These T-hinges are shaped at the forge from solid steel, each one carrying the small hammer-marks and gentle variations that tell you a person made it. The long strap and rectangular fixing plate give the classic T silhouette, finished off with the softened, coin-round penny end at its tip — a detail that is as much signature as ornament. Over them lies a warm, soft-matte Beeswax finish, a mellow near-black that reads as old and settled rather than glossy or new.

They are meant to be seen. Surface-mounted across a plank or ledged door, they draw the eye along the timber and give even a modern build a sense of age and honest craft. No mortising, no fuss — just handsome, load-bearing hardware, worn in from the start.

Works well in: cottage and farmhouse plank doors, period pantries and closets, and boot rooms or garden rooms where forged steel can sit against lime-washed walls or doors painted in soft sage, muddy green, or off-white.

Sizing: Supplied as a pair (two hinges). Choose 4″ or 6″. T-shaped with a rectangular fixing plate, surface-mounting with no mortising needed, and matching screws included. Please note the Beeswax finish is for interior use only.

About the Beeswax Finish

Beeswax is one of the oldest and most traditional finishes used on forged ironwork, giving each piece a soft, natural depth that feels warm to the touch. When the metal is hot-dipped into pure honey beeswax, the surface settles into a gentle matt tone that brings out the character of the steel without overpowering it. This finish creates a calm, authentic look—perfect for interiors where a traditional, understated atmosphere is preferred. Over time, the beeswax gently mellows, developing a pleasing lived-in patina that suits cottages, period homes, timber doors and hand-finished joinery. A quick polish with a soft cloth from time to time helps maintain its subtle sheen and keeps the finish feeling warm and organic. With simple occasional care, the beeswax retains its inviting appearance and remains one of the most charming finishes for interior ironmongery. Because beeswax is a natural finish, the surface may occasionally show a light bloom or a little excess wax when it arrives, and this can be refreshed easily with a soft cloth or a warm wipe, allowing the finish to settle beautifully into place.
