Designed in England.

These traditional Conbase T hinges are supplied as a pair, with the option of 4″ or 6″ sizes to accommodate a range of smaller doors and joinery projects. The listing refers to one pair of hinges; each order includes two hinges. The classic T-shaped design provides stable support, while the rounded Conbase detail introduces a subtle traditional character associated with cottage, farmhouse, and period-style fittings. Each hinge includes a rectangular fixing plate and is designed for surface mounting, allowing installation without the need for mortising. Matching screws are included to complete the fitting. The 4″ size is suited to compact doors such as cupboards, cabinets, and small furniture pieces. The 6″ size offers additional reach and strength, commonly used on slightly larger cupboard doors, light shed doors, and similar applications requiring modest additional support. Finished in Traditional Black, the hinges have a powder-coated protective layer that offers durability in everyday use. This finish is suitable for both indoor and outdoor environments, including storage units, garden buildings, and general interior joinery. The combination of a traditional silhouette, practical size options, and a robust finish makes these hinges a versatile choice for a variety of functional and decorative settings.

About the Traditional Black Finish

Traditional Black is a powder-coated finish that provides an attractive appearance along with long-lasting durability. Applied, this type of coating offers excellent corrosion resistance and can remain intact for 10–15 years under normal conditions. Powder coating offers several advantages over conventional liquid paints. It contains no solvents, making it more environmentally considerate, and it does not run or drip during application. The result is a tougher, more uniform coating. The process involves spraying a dry powdered paint onto bare metal. As the powder leaves the spray gun, it becomes electrostatically charged and adheres to the metal surface. The coated metal is then placed in an oven at around 400°F (approx. 200°C) for about 10 minutes, where the powder melts and cures into a smooth, even protective layer. Items finished in Traditional Black require only light maintenance. Occasional cleaning and polishing, along with a small amount of oil on moving parts, helps ensure continued smooth operation. If any chips or scratches expose bare metal in time, they should be touched up with an appropriate exterior paint to help maintain water resistance.
