Crackle Ceramic Cabinet Knob in Pastel Colours

A crackled glaze in the manner of old European porcelain — each piece pulled from the kiln with a fine web of lines that no two workshops could ever repeat.
Each knob is thrown, glazed, and fired by hand in a small ceramics studio. The crackle effect comes from a controlled thermal difference between glaze and body during the cooling phase — a technique borrowed from historic Chinese and Song-dynasty potters, and one that leaves every piece with its own quiet pattern of fissures. After firing, each knob is hand-painted in a wash of pastel and finished with a clear sealing glaze that both protects the crackle lines and deepens their colour.
The body is high-fired stoneware, threaded through a solid brass mounting insert that accepts a standard M4 screw (25mm supplied). Colours run from powder-blue to sage, soft pink to butter yellow — the palette drawn from the sort of hand-thrown tableware you might find in a French farmhouse. Because each is hand-finished, expect gentle variation in tone and crackle density from knob to knob.
Works well in: Provençal kitchens with limewashed walls, Shaker-style pantries, cottage bathrooms with clawfoot tubs, and children's rooms that lean quiet rather than cartoonish. Beautiful too on a painted dresser in a guest bedroom where the light is soft.
Sizing: Approximately 40mm diameter (1.57") with a 30mm projection (1.18"). The piece sits generously proud of the cabinet front — an easy target for the hand.
