Solid iron, forged by hand and sealed in beeswax — a penny-end pull handle made the way a blacksmith would have made it.

Each handle is forged from solid iron using traditional blacksmith techniques, shaped by hand into a robust, practical fitting. The defining detail is the penny end — round fixing plates at each end, formed by hammering the iron to raise a textured edge around the fixing points. It is a characteristic feature of classic forged ironwork, common across period door furniture and joinery, and it gives the handle both strength and an unmistakably traditional look.

After forging, the handle is treated with a natural beeswax coating that lightly protects the surface while preserving the raw appearance of the iron — a soft, matte finish suited to interiors where authentic forged ironwork is called for. The simple curved profile gives a comfortable grip, and matching fixing screws are supplied for a consistent finish.

Suited to drawers, cupboard doors, furniture, and internal doors — one style of handle that reads honestly across a whole period scheme.

Works well in: a boot room with a slate floor and a run of wall pegs — or a country kitchen with a scrubbed table, an enamelware shelf, and a stone sink. Also good on barn doors and internal room doors in a farmhouse or cottage scheme.

Sizing: available in 4in, 6in, and 8in lengths. The 4in suits smaller drawers and compact cabinetry; the 6in suits standard drawers, cupboard doors, and smaller internal doors; the 8in suits internal entry doors, standard room doors, barn doors, and larger furniture. Fixing screws supplied. Interior use — refresh occasionally with a light wipe of natural beeswax; avoid prolonged moisture and abrasive cleaners.

About the Beeswax Finish

Beeswax is one of the oldest and most traditional finishes used on forged ironwork, giving each piece a soft, natural depth that feels warm to the touch. When the metal is hot-dipped into pure honey beeswax, the surface settles into a gentle matt tone that brings out the character of the steel without overpowering it. This finish creates a calm, authentic look—perfect for interiors where a traditional, understated atmosphere is preferred. Over time, the beeswax gently mellows, developing a pleasing lived-in patina that suits cottages, period homes, timber doors and hand-finished joinery. A quick polish with a soft cloth from time to time helps maintain its subtle sheen and keeps the finish feeling warm and organic. With simple occasional care, the beeswax retains its inviting appearance and remains one of the most charming finishes for interior ironmongery. Because beeswax is a natural finish, the surface may occasionally show a light bloom or a little excess wax when it arrives, and this can be refreshed easily with a soft cloth or a warm wipe, allowing the finish to settle beautifully into place.
