This hand-forged coinbase iron pull handle is manufactured using traditional blacksmith techniques and finished in a traditional black coating. The handle is forged from solid iron and shaped by hand to create a strong, practical fitting suitable for a wide range of internal and external applications. The handle incorporates round coinbase fixing plates at each end. These bases are formed by hammering the iron to create a raised, textured edge around the fixing points, providing strength and a distinctive traditional appearance. The coinbase detail is a defining feature of classic forged ironwork and is commonly found across period door furniture and architectural joinery. Once forged, the handle is finished in a traditional black coating. This finish provides durable surface protection and is suitable for both interior and exterior use. The black finish offers a clean, understated appearance that works well across heritage, rustic and contemporary settings. The pull handle features a simple curved profile designed to provide a comfortable and practical grip. The 4-inch size is typically used on smaller drawers and compact cabinetry. The 6-inch size is suitable for standard drawers, cupboard doors and smaller internal room doors. The 8-inch size is recommended for internal entry doors, standard room doors and barn doors, as well as larger drawers and furniture doors where a stronger pull and greater hand clearance are required. Each handle is supplied with matching fixing screws and is suitable for use on drawers, cupboard doors, furniture doors and doors where a traditional forged iron pull handle is required.

Maintenance & Care: The traditional black finish is suitable for internal and external use. For general maintenance, wipe with a dry or lightly oiled cloth. Periodic light oiling is recommended for external installations to help maintain the finish. Avoid the use of abrasive materials or chemical cleaners.

About the Traditional Black Finish

Traditional Black is a powder-coated finish that provides an attractive appearance along with long-lasting durability. Applied, this type of coating offers excellent corrosion resistance and can remain intact for 10–15 years under normal conditions. Powder coating offers several advantages over conventional liquid paints. It contains no solvents, making it more environmentally considerate, and it does not run or drip during application. The result is a tougher, more uniform coating. The process involves spraying a dry powdered paint onto bare metal. As the powder leaves the spray gun, it becomes electrostatically charged and adheres to the metal surface. The coated metal is then placed in an oven at around 400°F (approx. 200°C) for about 10 minutes, where the powder melts and cures into a smooth, even protective layer. Items finished in Traditional Black require only light maintenance. Occasional cleaning and polishing, along with a small amount of oil on moving parts, helps ensure continued smooth operation. If any chips or scratches expose bare metal in time, they should be touched up with an appropriate exterior paint to help maintain water resistance.
