This hand-forged coinbase pull handle is manufactured from solid pewter using traditional metalworking techniques. The handle is shaped by hand to create a robust and practical fitting suitable for a wide range of interior and exterior applications. The handle incorporates round coinbase fixing plates at each end. These bases are formed to create a raised edge around the fixing points, providing strength and a distinctive traditional appearance. The coinbase detail is a characteristic feature of classic door furniture and is commonly used across period and heritage joinery. Pewter is naturally corrosion-resistant and well suited to both indoor and outdoor environments. The finish offers a soft, muted metallic tone that works comfortably in traditional, rustic and heritage-style settings, while remaining understated enough for more neutral interiors. The pull handle features a simple curved profile designed to provide a comfortable and practical grip. The 4 inch size is typically used on smaller drawers and compact cabinetry. The 6 inch size is suitable for standard drawers, cupboard doors and smaller internal room doors. The 8 inch size is recommended for entry doors, standard room doors and barn doors, as well as larger drawers and furniture doors where a longer handle provides improved hand clearance. Each handle is supplied with matching fixing screws and is suitable for use on drawers, cupboard doors, furniture doors and doors where a traditional pewter pull handle is required.

Care & Maintenance: The Pewter finish may be maintained with a soft cloth to remove dust or debris. For moving parts, a light application of oil from time to time will help ensure smooth operation.

About the Pewter Finish

The Pewter finish takes its inspiration from traditional metalworking, where pieces were shaped by hand and finished with a muted, silvery tone that softened with use. To create this look today, the ironwork is first forged and shaped, then carefully brushed and treated to reveal a gentle silver-grey surface. The process leaves small variations and shading across the metal, which gives the finish its natural, slightly weathered appearance. Unlike bright plated finishes, Pewter is designed to look settled from the start — not shiny, but quietly metallic, as though it has already been part of the home for years. The final tone is achieved by layering and working the surface until it reaches a balanced, soft sheen that feels grounded and familiar. This makes it particularly suited to wooden doors and neutral interiors, where materials with more subtle character tend to sit comfortably. Pewter is also appreciated for being straightforward to live with; the finish doesn’t demand special care and simply needs an occasional wipe to keep dust away. Because the tone is built into the surface rather than applied as a heavy coating.
