Description

These traditional Conbase T Hinges are supplied as a pair, available in 9″, 12″ or 24″ to suit a wide range of internal timber doors and joinery projects. The listing refers to one pair of hinges; each order includes two hinges. The classic T-shaped form provides dependable support, while the rounded conch base detail introduces the subtle traditional character often associated with cottage, farmhouse and period-style interiors. Each hinge includes a rectangular fixing plate and is designed for surface mounting, allowing installation without the need for mortising. Matching screws are included. The 9″ size is suited to medium cupboard doors, storage units and internal timber projects where a slightly longer hinge is preferred. The 12″ size offers additional reach and stability, making it ideal for shed doors, internal panel doors and general interior joinery. The 24″ size is designed for large, heavy or full-height doors, wider timber doors, stable-style openings and similar settings where strong load distribution and extended strap support are essential. Finished in Beeswax, the hinges have a warm, soft matte tone that adds the natural qualities of forged steel. This finish is intended for interior use only, gently mellowing over time into a pleasing lived-in character that complements traditional timber. The combination of hand-forged styling, versatile size options and a warm Beeswax finish makes these hinges a distinctive choice for classic and period-inspired interiors.

About the Beeswax Finish

Beeswax is one of the oldest and most traditional finishes used on forged ironwork, giving each piece a soft, natural depth that feels warm to the touch. When the metal is hot-dipped into pure honey beeswax, the surface settles into a gentle matt tone that brings out the character of the steel without overpowering it. This finish creates a calm, authentic look—perfect for interiors where a traditional, understated atmosphere is preferred. Over time, the beeswax gently mellows, developing a pleasing lived-in patina that suits cottages, period homes, timber doors and hand-finished joinery. A quick polish with a soft cloth from time to time helps maintain its subtle sheen and keeps the finish feeling warm and organic. With simple occasional care, the beeswax retains its inviting appearance and remains one of the most charming finishes for interior ironmongery. Because beeswax is a natural finish, the surface may occasionally show a light bloom or a little excess wax when it arrives, and this can be refreshed easily with a soft cloth or a warm wipe, allowing the finish to settle beautifully into place.
